A 25-year-old vegetable vendor in Thailand has seen her fortunes change overnight after winning the country’s top lottery prize worth approximately S$235,000, reportedly thanks to a mysterious dream that revealed the winning number.
The woman, identified as Inthira Saisun, is from Thailand’s Lahu ethnic minority community and earns a living selling vegetables at a market in Kamphaeng Phet province. At the time of her win, she was five months pregnant and facing mounting financial difficulties due to debts linked to her vegetable business.
According to local reports, Inthira had been struggling to keep her stall running, with most of her earnings going towards repaying suppliers and purchasing fresh stock. The financial pressure had left her worried about supporting her growing family and preparing for the arrival of her child.
Dream Led Her To Buy Lottery Ticket
Inthira told reporters that an elderly figure appeared in her dream and instructed her to purchase a specific lottery number. The figure also allegedly asked her to perform a charitable act if she won any prize.
The following day, while working at her vegetable stall, a lottery ticket seller happened to walk past. As she looked through the available tickets, she noticed one ending with the digits 770, which matched the number she remembered from her dream.
Although there were reportedly two tickets carrying the same number, she could only afford to buy one due to her financial situation. She purchased the ticket without expecting much and continued with her daily routine.
When Thailand’s official lottery results were announced on June 1, Inthira discovered that her ticket had won the first prize worth 6 million baht, equivalent to around S$235,000.
Overwhelmed By Life-Changing Win
The young mother-to-be said she broke down in tears after realising she had become a lottery millionaire. Fellow traders and shopkeepers at the market quickly gathered around to congratulate her as news of the win spread throughout the area.
Despite the windfall, Inthira has no plans to quit her job. She said she intends to continue selling vegetables and maintaining the business that has supported her family.
She also plans to donate part of her winnings to a temple in her hometown of Doi Muser in Tak province. The donation is intended to fulfil the promise she made to the elderly figure who appeared in her dream.
Plans To Clear Debts And Secure Future
The lottery prize is expected to significantly improve Inthira’s financial situation, allowing her to settle outstanding debts and provide greater stability for her growing family.
She also believes her unborn child may have brought her good fortune, a sentiment shared by many locals who view such events as a sign of blessing and luck.
While stories of lottery winners receiving lucky numbers through dreams are not uncommon in Thailand, Inthira’s story has captured public attention because of her difficult circumstances and determination to continue working despite her newfound wealth.
