A Singaporean woman suffered injuries after slipping and falling while visiting a waterfall in Malaysia, prompting a rescue operation that required firefighters to carry her down a forested mountain trail on a stretcher.
The incident occurred on Saturday (6 June) at Templer Park in Selangor, a popular recreational destination known for its waterfalls and hiking trails.
According to local authorities, the woman had been enjoying the waterfall area when she reportedly lost her footing and fell, leaving her unable to make her way back down the mountain on her own.
Emergency responders were alerted to the situation and immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene.
Firefighters Trek 8km To Reach Injured Tourist
Officials said rescuers had to travel approximately 8 kilometres to reach the location where the woman was stranded.
Upon arriving, firefighters first carried a stretcher up the mountainous terrain before locating the injured tourist near the waterfall area.
The rescue operation proved challenging due to the uneven forest trails and remote location of the accident.
After stabilising the woman, rescuers carefully secured her onto a stretcher before beginning the long journey back down the mountain.
Four-Man Team Carries Victim To Safety
Authorities said a team of four firefighters took turns carrying the injured woman through the forest and down the slopes to safety.
Medical personnel were waiting at the base of the mountain to assess her condition once she arrived.
The extent of her injuries has not been disclosed.
Photos released by the rescue team showed firefighters navigating narrow trails while carrying the stretcher through heavily wooded areas.
Authorities Urge Visitors To Stay Safe
Following the incident, officials reminded members of the public to exercise caution when visiting waterfalls, rivers and other outdoor recreational sites.
Visitors are encouraged to wear footwear with good grip, avoid climbing slippery rocks and stay away from dangerous areas, particularly after rainfall when surfaces can become extremely hazardous.
Parents were also advised to keep a close watch on children when visiting such locations.
Authorities revealed that several reports involving injured or stranded tourists have been received since the recent long holiday period, highlighting the importance of taking proper safety precautions during outdoor activities.
The rescue serves as a reminder that even popular tourist destinations can pose significant risks when conditions become slippery or unpredictable.
