A tragic family dispute in Thailand ended in the death of a Chinese woman after her younger sister allegedly stabbed her more than 50 times following an argument involving a mobile phone.
The incident took place in Bangkok, where a Chinese family residing in Thailand was reportedly torn apart by a violent confrontation between two sisters.
According to local reports, the 21-year-old younger sister became enraged after discovering that her elder sister had secretly looked through her mobile phone and informed their parents that she had been disposing of her prescribed medication instead of taking it.
The suspect allegedly planned the attack in advance, purchasing a knife from a supermarket before carrying out the fatal assault while their parents were away from home.
Parents Returned To A Horrifying Scene
The victim’s father, identified as Mr Zheng, 69, said he and his Thai wife had left their condominium in Bangkok’s Sathorn district at around 8:30am to go shopping.
At the time, only their two daughters remained at home.
He explained that the younger daughter had recently suspended her university studies after developing mental health issues and had been receiving treatment at a psychiatric hospital in Nonthaburi province.
However, her condition appeared to have worsened after she admitted she had secretly been flushing all of her prescribed medication down the toilet.
At around 9:30am, the younger daughter called her mother and asked to be picked up to go ice skating, telling her there was no need to come upstairs as she would be waiting downstairs.
When the mother asked about the elder sister’s whereabouts, the younger daughter claimed she was asleep.
Repeated phone calls to the elder sister went unanswered, prompting the father to return home earlier than planned.
Upon entering the family’s 17th-floor apartment, he discovered his elder daughter collapsed near the foot of her bed with multiple stab wounds.
The room was covered in blood, with even the curtains stained.
Victim Suffered More Than 50 Knife Wounds
Preliminary forensic examinations revealed that the victim sustained over 50 stab wounds across various parts of her body.
Authorities reported injuries to her chest, neck, hands, back and right arm.
Police later contacted the mother and requested that she bring the younger daughter back to the apartment.
Upon returning, the suspect reportedly remained calm and informed officers that she had hidden the murder weapon, a 30cm knife, on a bookshelf in the living room.
Suspect Allegedly Planned The Attack
During questioning, the younger sister allegedly admitted she was furious because her elder sister had looked through her mobile phone and informed their parents that she had discarded her medication.
Investigators said she deliberately bought a knife beforehand and waited until both parents had left home before carrying out the attack.
Authorities are preparing to charge her with premeditated murder.
A detailed autopsy will be conducted by forensic specialists as investigations continue.
Note: Reports indicate the suspect had been undergoing treatment for mental health issues. Mental illness does not automatically lead to violence, and authorities have not suggested that her medical condition alone was the cause of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
