The incident occurred on the morning of Jun. 22 during heavy rain conditions.

The victim, identified as cross-border commuter Sheng Baoyuan (transliteration), was riding his motorcycle towards Singapore when the accident happened.

He leaves behind his wife and a son who is under two years old.

Accident Happened During Morning Commute

According to reports, Sheng had recently started a new role as a delivery rider and was making his first journey to work via the Tuas route.

A friend of his sister said he had previously used the Woodlands Checkpoint for his daily commute but had switched to Tuas after changing jobs.

Heavy rain was reported in the area at the time of the accident.

Images circulating online showed a badly damaged motorcycle with debris scattered across the roadway.

An eyewitness reportedly told family members that Sheng fell from his motorcycle before being struck during the chain of events that followed.

His loved ones are now appealing for additional witnesses to come forward to provide a clearer picture of what happened.

Police Reveal Preliminary Findings

Authorities in Malaysia said initial investigations indicate Sheng first collided with a multi-purpose vehicle that had stopped in the middle lane due to traffic congestion.

The impact allegedly threw him from his motorcycle and into the path of a nearby lorry.

A second motorcyclist also collided with Sheng’s motorcycle and suffered minor injuries.

Investigators added that preliminary findings suggest Sheng was not run over by any vehicle.

Police stressed that investigations are still ongoing and urged the public not to jump to conclusions until all evidence has been gathered.

The lorry driver involved has been identified and will be assisting authorities with the investigation.

Family Left Devastated By Sudden Loss

The tragedy has left Sheng’s family devastated, especially as he was regarded as the main provider for his household.

A friend close to the family described him as “the pillar of the family” and expressed hope that investigations would eventually uncover exactly what happened.

His wife also paid tribute to him on social media, remembering him as a loving husband and devoted father who deeply cared for both her and their young son.

Lorry Company Responds To Hit-And-Run Allegations

Following the accident, claims surfaced online accusing the lorry driver of leaving the scene, with some labelling the incident a hit-and-run.

However, the transport company that owns the lorry has denied the allegations.

A company representative said the driver had heard a noise from behind the vehicle and briefly stopped to investigate before determining that the incident was unrelated to the lorry.

The representative added that the company would cooperate fully with authorities and that the driver is scheduled to provide an official statement.

As investigations continue, many are mourning the loss of another cross-border commuter who was simply trying to provide for his family and begin a new chapter in his career.
