PRC Tourist Hogs Paris Photo Spot Gets Into Fight, Shows China Flag On Phone To Show “Superiority”

A dispute over a popular photo spot at the Paris Opera House escalated into a physical confrontation after a Western tourist accused a group of Chinese visitors of taking too long to snap pictures.

Videos circulating online show the incident unfolding near the grand staircase inside the historic attraction, where a long queue of tourists had formed to take photographs.

According to reports, a deaf Chinese woman was posing for photos while several people waited for their turn.

A Western tourist eventually approached the group, gesturing towards his watch and signalling that they had spent enough time at the location and should allow others to take photographs.

The disagreement quickly escalated when the woman’s companion allegedly pushed the tourist, resulting in a brief scuffle before another bystander stepped in and attempted to separate those involved.

Both sides accused each other of bad behaviour

Through a sign language interpreter, the Chinese tourist claimed she had been waiting her turn and was still taking photographs when the other group attempted to move in.

She alleged the tourists repeatedly interrupted her session and insisted her time was up, prompting her to tell them to leave.

Meanwhile, the Western tourist reportedly argued that everyone had been queuing and accused the group of occupying the prime photo spot for too long while others waited.

During the heated exchange, he allegedly threatened to retaliate if he was assaulted.

National flag displayed during confrontation

As emotions intensified, the woman became visibly upset and displayed the Chinese national flag on her mobile phone.

She reportedly declared that she was Chinese and would not allow herself to be bullied, while accusing others of targeting Chinese visitors.

The pair later used a translation application to explain the incident to security personnel at the venue.

Online reactions divided

Videos of the confrontation quickly spread across social media, where viewers expressed mixed opinions.

Some commenters sympathised with those waiting in line, arguing that visitors should be considerate and avoid occupying popular photo spots for extended periods.

Others criticised the decision to invoke national identity during what they viewed as a dispute over queue etiquette rather than nationality.

Following the backlash, the Chinese tourist addressed the incident on Douyin, saying she had reflected on her actions.

She acknowledged that both parties had lost their composure during the argument and said she had learned from the experience.

The woman also said displaying China’s national flag during the confrontation was unnecessary, adding that respecting the flag and maintaining the country’s image are responsibilities that should not be taken lightly.
