A 19-year-old woman in Taiwan has been arrested after allegedly attacking her younger brother with a kitchen knife following an argument over noise levels at home.
The incident reportedly took place on July 3 in Keelung City, where the siblings were alone during the school holiday period. Authorities said the victim, a 14-year-old boy who is due to turn 15, suffered injuries to the neck area and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, the teenager is reported to be in stable condition.
Police have detained the elder sister and are investigating the case as a suspected attempted murder.
Argument Escalated During Online Gaming Session
According to local media reports, the younger brother had been playing video games while chatting with friends online from home.
As the game became more intense, his voice reportedly grew louder, disturbing his sister who was resting in another room.
The situation escalated when the sister confronted her brother about the noise. What began as a verbal disagreement soon turned physical.
Investigators said the woman allegedly became overwhelmed during the argument and went to the kitchen to retrieve a knife.
Brother Sought Help After Being Injured
During the confrontation, the younger sibling was reportedly injured at the back of his neck, causing significant bleeding.
Despite his injury, the teenager managed to leave the residence and seek help from his grandfather, who was working at a nearby shop.
Emergency services were alerted shortly afterwards, and the boy was transported to hospital for medical attention.
Police officers responding to the incident later identified the suspect as the victim’s elder sister.
Authorities Providing Support To Family
Local education officials said the injured boy remains in stable condition but will require additional medical assessment and follow-up treatment.
Authorities have also indicated that counselling and psychological support will be offered to the family following the incident.
The case remains under investigation as police continue to determine the circumstances that led to the alleged attack.
