A 15-year-old girl has been remanded for four days following a shocking stabbing incident at a secondary school in Banting, Selangor, which left another student seriously injured.
The teenager is being investigated for attempted murder after allegedly attacking a fellow student inside the school compound on Monday morning. The incident has sparked widespread concern among parents and students, while authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Police confirmed that the suspect was brought before the Telok Datok Magistrate’s Court, where a remand order was granted to facilitate further investigations.
Teen Investigated For Attempted Murder
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the case is being investigated under Section 307 of Malaysia’s Penal Code, which covers attempted murder offences.
According to investigators, the attack occurred at around 9.30am when the victim, a Form Three student, was allegedly stabbed multiple times on her back, shoulder and face.
The injured student was rushed to Hospital Banting for emergency treatment following the incident.
Police have indicated that only one suspect is believed to have been involved in the attack. Preliminary findings suggest the teenager entered the school through the main entrance before the alleged assault took place.
Defence Lawyer Says Suspect Is Autistic
The suspect’s lawyer, S. Vijeswari Devi from the National Legal Aid Foundation, revealed that her client is a person with disabilities.
She stated that the teenager has autism but declined to provide further details while investigations remain ongoing.
The disclosure has prompted discussions online regarding mental health and support systems for students, although authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation until the investigation is completed.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar also called on the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims that could create unnecessary fear or confusion.
Victim Recovering After Intensive Treatment
Meanwhile, the father of the injured student has appealed for calm and urged the public to allow police to carry out their work without interference.
Mohd Firuz Ibrahim, 43, said his daughter remains traumatised by the ordeal but is recovering after receiving intensive medical treatment.
He also addressed rumours circulating on social media regarding an alleged target list that supposedly contained his daughter’s name.
According to him, the authenticity of the document has not been verified and should not be treated as fact.
Mohd Firuz further rejected claims that his daughter had bullied anyone, stressing that she was closely supervised by her family and rarely went out alone.
The victim reportedly underwent approximately four hours of treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, where doctors worked to remove blood that had accumulated in her lungs following the attack.
Investigation Continues
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses as they work to establish a motive for the incident.
The case has drawn significant attention across Malaysia due to the age of those involved and the severity of the injuries sustained.
Police have reiterated that investigations remain active and have urged members of the public not to spread rumours or unverified information while legal proceedings are underway.
