The accident occurred at about 7.09pm on the PIE towards Tuas, shortly before the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) exit. Emergency services were later dispatched to the scene, where the rider was found injured but conscious.

Video footage of the incident has since surfaced online, showing the moments leading up to the crash and its aftermath.

Rider Failed to Avoid Stationary Vehicle

According to footage shared on social media, a Lexus was travelling along the expressway and maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

As traffic conditions began to slow, the Lexus gradually reduced speed and eventually came to a stop behind other vehicles on the road.

Moments later, a group of motorcyclists approached from behind and filtered past the stationary car without incident.

However, one rider appeared unable to react in time.

The motorcyclist, who was travelling at speed, crashed into the side of the Lexus after failing to avoid the vehicle. The force of the impact threw both the rider and his motorcycle onto the roadway.

The rider was seen landing several metres ahead of the collision point before coming to a stop in the middle of the expressway.

Passers-By Rushed to Assist

Following the crash, the motorcyclist remained on the road and was observed sitting upright while calling out towards someone further down the expressway, believed to be another member of the riding group.

Several motorists and passers-by quickly stopped to render assistance.

The Lexus driver was also seen approaching the injured rider to check on his condition while others gathered around to help and ensure his safety from oncoming traffic.

The motorcycle sustained visible damage as a result of the collision.

Rider Conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said officers were alerted to the accident at around 7.15pm and attended the scene.

Separately, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that it received a call regarding the road traffic accident along the PIE at approximately 7.30pm.

Paramedics assessed the injured rider before conveying him to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities said the 39-year-old man was conscious when he was taken to hospital.

Investigations Ongoing

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing.

The incident serves as another reminder for motorists and motorcyclists alike to remain vigilant on Singapore’s expressways, particularly during periods of heavy traffic where vehicles may come to a sudden stop.

Drivers are encouraged to maintain safe following distances and stay alert to changing road conditions to reduce the risk of rear-end collisions and other traffic accidents.
