Travellers heading to Taiwan, Japan and South Korea may face disruptions over the coming days after Singapore Airlines and Scoot announced a series of flight cancellations and schedule changes due to Typhoon Bavi.
The airlines said adverse weather conditions linked to the powerful storm have affected operations in and around Taipei, prompting precautionary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
Customers travelling on affected routes are advised to check their flight status regularly and ensure their contact details are updated to receive the latest notifications from the airlines.
Singapore Airlines Retimes And Cancels Taipei Services
Singapore Airlines (SIA) confirmed that several flights between Singapore and Taipei have either been rescheduled or cancelled.
Flight SQ878 from Singapore to Taipei on 10 July 2026 has been retimed to depart Singapore at 11:00am and arrive in Taipei at 4:15pm local time. The return service, SQ879, will depart Taipei at 5:30pm and arrive in Singapore at 10:00pm.
However, a number of flights scheduled for 11 July 2026 have been cancelled. These include SQ876 from Singapore to Taipei, SQ877 from Taipei to Singapore, as well as SQ878 and SQ879 operating on the same day.
SIA said affected customers will be contacted directly regarding alternative travel arrangements. Passengers whose flights have been cancelled may choose to be rebooked onto another flight or request a full refund for the unused portion of their ticket.
The airline added that the situation remains fluid and further disruptions may occur depending on weather developments in the region.
Scoot Cancels Flights Via Taipei
Budget carrier Scoot has also cancelled multiple services that transit through Taipei as Typhoon Bavi approaches.
On 10 July 2026, the following flights have been cancelled:
- TR874 from Singapore to Tokyo (Narita) via Taipei
- TR875 from Tokyo (Narita) to Singapore via Taipei
- TR872 from Singapore to Seoul via Taipei
- TR873 from Seoul to Singapore via Taipei
The cancellations will continue on 11 July 2026, affecting:
- TR866 from Singapore to Tokyo (Narita) via Taipei
- TR892 from Singapore to Sapporo via Taipei
- TR874 from Singapore to Tokyo (Narita) via Taipei
- TR872 from Singapore to Seoul via Taipei
- TR867 from Tokyo (Narita) to Singapore via Taipei
- TR893 from Sapporo to Singapore via Taipei
- TR875 from Tokyo (Narita) to Singapore via Taipei
- TR873 from Seoul to Singapore via Taipei
The affected services connect Singapore with popular holiday and business destinations in Japan and South Korea through Taipei, which is expected to experience severe weather conditions as the typhoon moves through the region.
Refunds And Rebooking Options Available
Scoot said it will contact affected passengers using the contact details provided during booking. Customers can choose to rebook their flights or request a full refund if they decide not to proceed with their travel plans.
Passengers who booked through travel agencies or partner airlines are advised to contact their booking provider directly for assistance.
Both Singapore Airlines and Scoot stressed that passenger and crew safety remain their highest priority and said they will continue monitoring Typhoon Bavi closely.
Travellers are strongly encouraged to update their contact information through the airlines’ “Manage Booking” functions and monitor flight status updates before travelling to the airport, as additional schedule adjustments may be required if weather conditions worsen.
