14-Year-Old Cyclist Rescued By Passers-By After Becoming Trapped Under Car In Jurong East

A 14-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital after becoming trapped beneath a car following an accident in Jurong East, with a group of passers-by stepping in to help free him.

The incident took place on Saturday (July 11) along Jurong Gateway Road in the direction of Jurong East Street 13. Videos shared online showed members of the public working together to rescue the teenager before emergency services arrived.

Footage of the rescue has since attracted widespread attention online, with many praising the quick-thinking bystanders who stopped to help the injured cyclist.

Passers-By Rush To Help Trapped Teenager

According to a video posted on Facebook, a grey car was seen stationary near a junction after the accident.

Several men gathered around the vehicle after realising a cyclist was trapped underneath. As more people noticed the situation, additional passers-by joined the rescue effort.

The footage showed around a dozen men positioning themselves around the vehicle and attempting to lift it high enough for someone to reach the teenager beneath.

One man was seen crawling underneath the car while others supported the vehicle. Moments later, he successfully pulled the boy out from under the car as onlookers watched anxiously.

The person filming the incident could be heard expressing hope that the teenager would be rescued safely.

Cyclist Carried To Safety While Awaiting Medical Assistance

After the teenager was freed, four men carefully carried him away from the roadway and placed him on a nearby grass verge.

They positioned him in a safer area while waiting for medical personnel to arrive. The boy appeared to be conscious and responsive, although he was visibly in pain.

At one point, a backpack was placed behind his head to provide support while bystanders checked on his condition.

The actions of the rescuers have since drawn praise from netizens, many of whom commended their willingness to stop and assist a stranger in need.

Police Investigations Ongoing

The Singapore Police Force said it was alerted to the accident at approximately 1.25pm on July 11.

The accident involved a cyclist and a car along Jurong Gateway Road towards Jurong East Street 13.

Police confirmed that the 14-year-old cyclist was conscious when he was conveyed to hospital. The Singapore Civil Defence Force also confirmed that he was taken to the National University Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car, a 48-year-old man, is assisting with police investigations.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing.

The incident has highlighted the swift response of ordinary members of the public, whose collective efforts helped free the trapped teenager within minutes of the accident occurring.
