A family believed to be from China has sparked outrage online after a video allegedly showed a child being allowed to defecate into a rubbish bin at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), despite toilets being located nearby.
The incident, which was captured by another traveller and later shared across TikTok and Threads, quickly went viral and drew widespread criticism from social media users who described the behaviour as unhygienic and inconsiderate.
In the clip, a young child can be seen without pants while being held up by two adults over a rubbish bin near a boarding gate area. The child appeared to be relieving themselves directly into the bin as other passengers sat and walked nearby.
Many online viewers expressed shock that the act was carried out in full public view within one of Southeast Asia’s busiest airports.

The person filming the incident later zoomed the camera towards a nearby area, allegedly showing toilet facilities situated only a short walk away from where the family was standing.
According to the video, the facilities included standard restrooms, disabled-access toilets and baby-changing amenities.
Some netizens pointed out that the toilets appeared to be located outside the immediate boarding gate zone. However, others argued that airport staff could have assisted if there was a genuine emergency involving the child.
