Thai Man Allegedly Shoots Neighbour With Slingshot Hoping He Gets Jailed So He Can Chase Victim’s Wife
A bizarre neighbour dispute in Thailand has taken a disturbing turn after a man was accused of attacking his neighbour with a slingshot in an alleged attempt to get the victim arrested, believing it would allow him to pursue the man’s wife.
The incident reportedly happened at around 2am on 31 July in Pak Chom district, Loei province, where the victim and his wife were preparing to leave home for work at a rubber plantation.
According to local reports, the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Mr Oat, was caught on CCTV lingering outside the family’s home before allegedly launching stones at the victim using a slingshot.
The victim, 39-year-old Mr Jeerasak, suffered bruising to both legs and his rib area after being struck several times.
CCTV Allegedly Captured Suspect Waiting Outside Home
Security camera footage reportedly showed the suspect standing outside the family’s house shortly before midnight, hours before the alleged attack took place.
Later footage allegedly captured him approaching the home as the couple prepared to leave for work before firing multiple stones at the victim.
Despite being attacked, Mr Jeerasak reportedly did not retaliate.
His family later lodged a police report at Pak Chom Police Station on 2 August and submitted evidence of the incident.
Wife Claims Suspect Had Been Harassing Her For Some Time
Mr Jeerasak’s wife, Mrs Patcharee, alleged that the suspect had developed feelings for her and had repeatedly tried to approach and speak to her despite her rejection.
She claimed the harassment had been ongoing for some time and included entering their property without permission, firing a slingshot at their house and making unwanted physical advances towards her.
According to her, village leaders had previously intervened and warned the suspect after earlier complaints, but his behaviour allegedly continued.
Family Believes Attack Was Meant To Get Husband Arrested
Mrs Patcharee believes the slingshot attack was not random.
She alleged the suspect deliberately tried to provoke her husband into fighting back so that he would be arrested and possibly sent to prison.
She claimed the suspect believed that if her husband ended up behind bars, he would have an opportunity to pursue a relationship with her.
Fortunately, Mr Jeerasak chose not to respond with violence, preventing the situation from escalating further.
Daughter Also Allegedly Targeted
The family also raised concerns about their 17-year-old daughter.
Mrs Patcharee alleged that the suspect had previously entered their property and even knocked on their teenage daughter’s bedroom door, leaving the family feeling unsafe in their own home.
Out of concern for her safety, they sometimes send their daughter to stay with her grandmother.
The family has urged police to take firm legal action to prevent any further incidents.
Police Investigation Ongoing
Police initially advised Mr Jeerasak to undergo a medical examination and submit the medical report as evidence for the investigation.
Local reports also stated that the suspect had previously served a prison sentence for methamphetamine-related offences and had been released just over a month before the alleged attack.
However, officers said a urine test conducted after the latest incident did not indicate any recent drug use.
The suspect’s statement has been recorded, and he was released while police continue gathering evidence and interviewing those involved before deciding on further legal action.
