Police are looking for a driver who left the scene after their car crashed into a traffic light in Sengkang on the morning of 27 Aug.
The accident took place along Sengkang East Road in the direction of Buangkok Green at around 6.20am, according to the Singapore Police Force (SPF).
The car was believed to have self-skidded before mounting the kerb and crashing into a traffic island, where it struck a traffic light.
Traffic light toppled after crash
Photos shared in a Telegram group for motorists showed the aftermath of the incident, with the vehicle suffering visible damage to its bonnet.
The traffic light had also toppled over following the impact.
The affected traffic island is located at the junction of Sengkang East Road and Sengkang East Way, opposite Sengkang General Hospital and Sengkang Community Hub.
The area is regularly used by pedestrians, making the crash particularly concerning.
Police officers were seen at the scene, while part of the traffic island was cordoned off. Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel and a fire engine were also present.
Driver left before police arrived
In response to queries, SPF said it was alerted to the accident at about 6.20am.
The police said the car was believed to have self-skidded. No injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
However, the driver had left the scene before police arrived.
Efforts are now underway to trace the driver, while police investigations remain ongoing.
It was not stated whether the driver was injured or why they left the scene following the collision.
The incident comes as a reminder for motorists to exercise caution on Singapore’s roads, particularly during the early morning hours when road conditions and visibility can affect driving.
