3 WEEKS OF JAIL FOR WOMAN WHO CAUSED MOTORCYCLIST DEATH

According to a media release, a 32-year-old woman was sentenced to 3 weeks of jail and banned from driving for 5 years after causing the death of a 28-year-old motorcyclist due to a negligent act.

The incident happened in Apr 2019, the accuse was on her way to Changi Airport but ended up causing a 4 car accident on the expressway. The accident caused the death of a 28-year-old motorcyclist. His pillion has suffered from multiple serious injuries including spinal and pelvic fractures and severe traumatic brain injury.

The deceased was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics while his pillion was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment. The brain injury sustained during the accident had caused the pillion to suffer form post-traumatic agitation and amnesia with visual hallucinations.

During the hearing, the defendant lawyer states that her client is suffering from the post-traumatic stress disorder and she is remorseful.

According to the law, the accuse could be jailed up to 2 years or fined or both for causing death due to an accident.
