According to the Immigration Checkpoint Authorities, 5,026 and 10 packets of different brands of contraband cigarettes has been seized on the early morning of 13 Aug 2020 at about 2.20 AM. These contraband cigarettes were found hidden underneath a Malaysia registered lorry during a routine check.

The case was handed over to the Singapore Customs for further investigation. Initial investigation revealed that the total GST evaded adds up to $464,070. The Malaysian driver has been charged and the court proceeding are ongoing.
