GRANNY ON WHEELCHAIR AMONG 14 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL GAMBLING

According to a media release, 14 people aged between 53 to 72 years old were arrested for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling activities.

On the 23 Aug 2020, the police conducted a raid at a coffeeshop located at Jurong West Street 41. During the raid, many were detained by the police for questioning and most of them were elderly. Most of them look scared while being questioned by the police.

Among them, a granny who is on a wheelchair was also arrested for her suspected involvement in illegal gambling activities. During the arrest, a total of $4,421 were seized by the police.

According to the law, anyone convicted for illegal gambling could face a jail term up to 6 months, fine up to $5,000 or both.
