The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said in a press release on Monday (August 31) that three F&B outlets were ordered to shut for failing to comply with the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020.
One of them reportedly served alcoholic beverages to its customers in teapots and empty green tea bottles after 10.30pm in a bid to avoid detection by the authorities.
Another F&B outlet also roperated without a valid food shop licence.
The three outlets are Whimsical Bar and Create Kitchen, both located at 2 Science Park Drive, and S-Tripes Hotpot restaurant at 731 Havelock Road.
Whimsical Bar has been ordered to shut immediately until a food shop license is obtained, whereas the other two will be shut temporarily from September 2 to September 11.
SFA received reportst that Whimsical Bar failed to ensure safe distancing between tables and served alcohol after 10.30pm.
SFA officers inspected the premises and found that they had violated safe management practices, which included tables being spaced less than 1m apart; groups of more than five people sitting together and mingling; and consumption of alcohol after 10.30pm.
Create Kitchen, adjacent to that unit, violated similar safe management measures, although they do have a license to operate as a restaurant.
Both outlets were fined $1,000 for their violations.
S-Tripes Hotpot was also in the red after SFA said they received feedback that the outlet was serving alcohol post-10.30pm, officers also found that they had flouted safe management measures.
SFA said: “staff were not wearing masks or not wearing them properly in spite of reminders. Sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages was observed after 10.30pm, with the beverages transferred into teapots and empty green tea bottles before being served to avoid detection.”
S-Tripes Hotpot was fined $2,000 for its offences.
