
A 48-year-old man was arrested on Friday (September 4) and charged on Saturday (September 5) for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty on a bus in Toa Payoh earlier in August.
The Singapore Police Force said in a news release that they received a report on August 28 that the man had molested a 17-year-old female teenager while onboard a bus along Toa Payoh Lorong 2.
His identity was then established by thhe officer from the Tanglin Police Division and he was subsequently arrested on September 4.
Thereafter, he was charged in court the following day on September 5 with the charge of outrage of modesty.
Upon conviction, he faces a jail term of up to two years, a fine, caning or any combination of the punishments.
The Police also advised the public to be alert and attentive to their surroundings, especially if they are in a crowded and confined space.
They also advised the public to head to a crowded area if they notice someone following them and if possible, move away if someone moves uncomfortably close to them.
