
Facebook user Terence Wong recently posted on Facebook on how Singapore Airlines are currently giving out scholarships to “Indian” only trainee pilots during this current pandemic period but Singapore Airlines still chose to retrench close to 2000 staff.

A quick check on the scholarship which was posted online stated that the SIA Youth Scholarship requirements required students from ASEAN Countries, China and India, to complete their pre-university level studies in Singapore. The scholarship is distributed for two years and is renewable annually only if the student maintains a satisfactory academic record.
- Benefits include hostel accommodation, settling allowance, course and examination fees, and medical benefits.
- Recipients will be awarded Singapore- Cambridge General Certificate of Advanced Level (GCE “A” Level).
- Applications for SIA Youth Scholarship are closed. For 2021, the applications will begin in June 2020.
- Scholarship decisions are announced in the month of November.
Selection for the SIA Youth Scholarship is majorly based on the Selection Test and Interview Session. However, applicants are initially screened on the basis of their academic scores.
The eligibility criteria which was posted on the website collegedunia stated that all students must fulfill the following criteria:
Citizenship: Indian National
Age: Students should have been born between 2001 and 2003
Academic Qualification:
- Must have completed their class 10 in 2019.
- Must have a strong academic record. They should have secured at least 85 % or Minimum of Grade A with English as First Language.
