11 ARRESTED, AMK GAMBLING DEN CAUGHT BY POLICE

According to a Police media release, 11 individuals was arrested after they were caught in a makeshift gambling den.

They were arrested under the offences of the Common Gaming Houses Act.

The incident happened on the 17 October 2020, Police officers from Ang Mo Kio Divisions went into operation and raided an office located along Ang Mo Kio Street 64.

Investigations reviewed that a 32-year-old man was the mastermind behind the gambling den along with two others helping to operate the gambling den (21 and 38-year-old).

8 others were arrested as “patrons” of the gambling den, the youngest at 23-years-old and the oldest at 38.

The following items were found in the compound to facilitate the gambling den

  • Two Poker Tables
  • 20 Chairs
  • Various gambling paraphernalia such as chips

The items have since been seized as evidence for the crime.

Organizers

If the 3 individuals are found guilty of operating the gambling den they will face a minimum of $5000 fine and up to a maximum of $50,000 along with 3 years jail.

Gamblers

Any person who games in a common gaming house shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
