MAN INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT THAT KILLED NUS STUDENT FINED $5,000

According to a media release, a 23-year-old man was fined $5,000 and disqualified from driving for a period of 2 years after pleading guilty to an offence of dangerous driving. He was involved in a fatal accident that killed a 19-year-old NUS student.

The accident happened on the 19 Apr 2018 at the Clementi Road junction. The student was in a taxi with her friends. The taxi driver then made a discretionary right and was hit by a speeding car.

The student and her friends were conveyed to the hospital and she was later pronounced dead.

According to the law, anyone convicted of dangerous driving could face a jail term up to 8 years and disqualify from driving for up to 10 years if it involves death.
