An employee working at the West shared his story with us:

Hi im working at a food production company located in the west, I have been threatened with unacceptable language and often disturbed during my sleeping hours.

My employer would often text me on my off days and off hours and expect to do work for him. Despite being lowly paid, he wants me to work like a slave and i am facing massive stress.

His expects his workers to work 20hours a day and does not even compensate me and my colleagues with off days nor extra wage. Imagine your phone ringing with Whatsapp messages every hour from 1am to 6am even on my off days. But my working hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

The next morning after waking up he would often call and scold me for not replying him asap. I was thinking if he wanted to hire a robot he should just buy one and not hire me.

Time to time i told him that i would leave then he would be silent for a moment and the saying goes “a leopard does not change its spots”. After a week or two he would start harrassing me again.

The fact that he always begs me to stay means that I am a indespensable worker but he still treats his golden goose like a turd.

I checkup on MOM website and there was no clear details on getting harrase out of working hours. Im sending this story to Singapore Uncensored and hoping that someone could comment and advise the MOM regulations to protect myself.

At the same time it is COVID-19 period, it is easier said than done if i really want to change a job.
