Chen Jianchun, a 59-year-old nurse, was visiting Starbucks at Thomson Plaza on 17 February and while he was waiting for his order to be completed, he lightly coughed as he had a slight irritation in his throat.

To which a Starbucks staff in her 20s allegedly sprayed disinfectant onto his face after hearing him cough, hurting both his eyes in the process.
She was alleged to have sprayed the disinfectant at him four times, leaving Chen tearing up and unable to open his eyes.
The staff also allegedly sprayed disinfectant in the direction of a bag that contained his drinks.
Chen then told her that there was no need for her to do that, the staff allegedly replied that she could do whatever she wants as “this is her store”.
