On Jan 13, JTC stopped all work regarding clearing of the forest area after finding out that there’s been an excess clearance during the process.

A timeline was given by JTC on what happened.
- Aug 2020 – 4 plots of land consisting of around 2.8ha were cleared where the animal study is being conducted. The authorization of clearing was unclear.
- Sep 29 2020 – Clearance was given to Afip’s building plan to clear falling tree from NParks
- Nov 2020 – 4 more plots of land were asked for permission to clear but only partial clearance was given
- Dec 15 2020 – 2 plots around 2.1ha cleared
- Dec 23 2020 – JTC engaged consultant to do animal study and do up an environmental monitoring and management plan
- up till Jan 13 2021 – Huationg cleared further plot or around 4.5ha which were unauthorized
JTC then stopped all work on Jan 13 after finding out about the incident and they began their investigations. Warnings were given to Huationg for their mistake.
Up till now, JTC has acknowledged their mistake in clearing the forest and NParks are further investigating if there is any violation to the Park and Trees Act and WIldlife Act.
