
In a parliament sitting on 1 March, Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said that Singapore will base their vaccine decisions on “science and healthcare needs”, and will not be influenced by external forces.

He said:
“We cannot be bought; we cannot be bullied; we cannot be intimidated into either approving or disapproving any vaccine.”
Dr Vivian Balakrishnan was responding to a question by Workers’ Party MP Sylvia Lim, who suggested a certain power play in some traditional alliances in the distribution relationship of the vaccines.
