A 38-year-old man was arrested for using illegally obtained personal information to get masks from vending machines at Bukit Panjang and Bishan.
He attempted to get the free masks 61 times, succeeding 11 times.
He is facing up to 10 years in jail as well as a fine for cheating, for his offences.
An individual tried to get their mask from a vending machine at Pasir Ris East Community Centre but was unable to do so as it had “already been collected”, so the person lodged a police report.
Temasek Foundation also lodged a police report on the same day, reporting several such cases occuring.
The police were then able to identify the culprit throught CCTV images int he vending machines.
The police are stepping up efforts to catch such delinquents and urge the public to report suspicious persons loitering at any mask vending machines.
