
Wong Wei Mun Joseph, 20-years-old, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal trespass and one charge of voluntarily causing hurt.
Wong reportedly trespassed into several GV movie halls to watch movies without buying tickets, he would watch multiple movies in the halls and leave halfway through to avoid being caught by the staff.
On 16 October 2020, a GV staff member noticd Wong exiting a cinema hall at J8 and he recalled that Wong had preveiously entered tha cinema halls without a valid ticket.
So he approached Wong and asked to see his movie ticket, to which Wong said that he left it in the cinema.
The staff then told Wong that he would bring him to see the manager, Wong then tried to escape.
The staff then gave chase and restrained Wong but was scratched on his face and hand before the security guards intervened.
Wong then admitted to his offences.
However, on 11 February 2021, Wong was caught again; A staff member at GV Jurong Point was clearing a hall after a movie screening, when she noticed Wong standing near the exit of the movie hall.
Wong noticed the staff member looking at him so he took the stairs down but then came back a few minutes later.
The staff then asked him to leave using the same stairs but Wong insisted on exiting through the entrance and told her it was because he needed to use the toilet.
She recalled not seeing him enter with a valid ticket and recognised him from previous incidents.
So she brought him to the manager’s office to detain him, but the manager was not inside the office at the time.
So she brought him to the ticketing counter to ask her colleagues for help, but wong scratched her wrist and broke free, running away.
He thed fled into the mall and disappeared into the crowd.
