The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said in a statement yesterday (19 March) that a second batch of eggs from Malaysia have been recalled after they were found to have been contaminated with the Salmonella Enteritidis bacteria that causes food poisoning.
The batch of affected eggs has the stamp “CEM014” on the shells and they are imported from Linggi Agriculture in Malaysia.
Four local importers have been instructed by the SFA to recall the products, they are:
- An Hong Egg Supplies
- Chuan Huat Poultry Farm
- Dasoon
- FE Supply
The bacteria causes food-borne illnesses if the eggs are consumed raw or undercooked, and the SFA advises people to cook them thoroughly and if they start feeling unwell after eating the eggs, to seek medical attention immediately.
Linggi Agriculture has since been suspended until the contamination has been rectified.
