S’PORE PASSPORT VALIDITY TO BE INCREASED FROM 5 TO 10 YEARS

The ICA said that the validity period of Singapore passports will be increased from 5 years to 10 years for all citizens aged 16 and above.

ICA said that this is to reduce the frequency ot passport renewals and provide greater convenience to Singaporeans.

However, the passport application fee will still remain at $70.

Persons under the age of 16 will still have their passports valid for 5 years, this is to allow photographs to be updated more often, as children’s facial features change at a faster rate.

Singapore’s passports were previously valid for 10 years but reduced to 5 years after the introduction of the biometric passport, which contains embedded microchips containing the holder’s facial and fingerprint identifiers.
