A Malaysian drug syndicate that uses modified fire extinguishers to smuggle drugs into Singapore was busted by the Malaysia’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID).
Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a statement yesterday (1 June) that the operation was a result of intelligence sharing between us, Malaysia’s NCID and the Johor police.
CNB said:
“Motivated by profit, drug traffickers and syndicates will continue to take huge gambles to smuggle illicit drugs into Singapore, and will stop at nothing to evade detection from the authorities,” said CNB.Â
“The recent arrests in both Malaysia and Singapore are a testament to the close cooperation between the drug enforcement agencies in both countries.”
About $850,000 worth of drugs were seized and 7 people arrested on 18 May.
