PRC scammers set up a base to defraud Singaporeans.
The PRC scam group invested heavily in renting luxury apartments as a base of operations in Malaysia to scam Singaporeans.
When the police arrived, the three leaders of the group were counting money while drinking expensive alcohol. Kuala Lumpur(KL) police officers raided a luxury apartment in KL yesterday afternoon, arresting five Malaysian’s and three China men.
It is reported that the relevant fraud group rents three units for at least RM23,000 ringgits (approximately SGD$7420) each month, one of which is also equipped with a private elevator.
The police disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that in addition to investment scams, the relevant groups also engaged in gambling activities. The main targets were Singaporeans.
At the same time, they did not rule out that they also defrauded Chinese and Malaysians.
