M’SIA LOCKDOWN EXTENDED AGAIN TILL MID-JULY

Malaysia’s initially plans to end Malaysia’s movement control order (MCO) tomorrow (June 28). But earlier today the Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said that it will be extended.

In an interview he said:

He said: “People say that the MCO is about to end but this is not true. Firstly, I want to clarify that we don’t call it MCO anymore. We are in different phases of the National Recovery Plan. Right now, we are in Phase One, and this might last until July, maybe in the middle of the month or so.”

Muhyiddin also said that Malaysia would not exit Phase One until all three NRP indicators are met

  • new cases below 4,000 daily,
  • “moderate” demand on intensive care capacity
  • 10 per cent vaccination in the country
