A 20 year old man who cannot be named due to a gag order given to protect the victims abused his stepbrothers sexually and even tried to use S$5 to get his 10 years old stepbrother to perform a sex act on him.
Here’s what happened
Last August or September, the 20 year old accused visited his mother’s home to play on the PlayStation with his 10 year old stepbrother.
The stepbrother lost the game and was about to leave when the offender grabbed him and instructed him to touch his private parts as forfeit for losing the game.
He lay on the bed and flashed his “banana” to him.
The younger boy refused to oblige to the offender’s instruction and the offender offered him S$5 to which the younger boy agreed as he felt that the older brother was intimidating.
He obliged for a good ten minutes while feeling petrified and disgusted at the same time.
After the deed was done, he refused the money and ran out to tell his mother about what went on inside the room.
Second time it happened
On 5th September last year, the offender went to the Mother’s home again to take care of his two stepbrothers as the mother had promised him money.
He asked the eight year old boy this time to touch his private parts.
He refused as well but obliged ultimately because the offender was persistent.
The boy then left the room after some time to use the toilet and reportedly told the mother that he was going to wash his hands as they were “dirty” after stroking his brother’s private parts.
The boy’s father subsequently reported the matter on Sep 16, saying that his sons have been sexually assaulted.
The mitigation and sentence
The 20 year old pleaded guilty to two counts of procuring the commission of an obscene act by a child.
His dad signed a S$5000 bond to ensure his good behaviour.
He was sentenced to 21 months probation on Monday (16 August 2021) and 60 hours of community service.
He will be placed on an electric monitoring scheme and will have to undergo an offence-specific programme.
He will also not be allowed to be left unsupervised with a child and also not allowed to contact or visit his stepbrothers unless supervised.
He could have been jailed up to five years and fined up to S$10,000 or both.
