MAN ARRESTED MAKE EXPLOSIVE & THROW IT INTO ANCHORVALE FLAT

The Police have arrested a 54-year-old man for his suspected involvement in the unlawful use of an explosive substance.

The Police received a report on August 14, 2021, about a suspicious object located in a residential unit along Anchorvale Link. There was no property damage or personal injury.

Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted thorough investigations & ground inquiries before discovering the men identify and detained him on August 16, 2021.

According to preliminary investigations, the guy reportedly flung a package comprised of matchsticks and tape out the window of his apartment. The object ended up in the apartment of a neighbour who lived a few levels below. A bang that sounded like a tiny explosion was heard by the man’s neighbour, who alerted the police.

On August 18, 2021, the guy will face charges of unauthorized use of explosive material, which is punished under Section 4 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act.

The crime is punishable by life in prison and a minimum of six strokes of the cane.
