5 ARRESTED, CLOSE TO 55KG OF DRUGS SEIZED

The Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) arrested five Malaysians, one man and four women, aged 21 to 71, for suspected drug trafficking activities in and around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor between September 24 and 28, 2021, based on information provided by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

The activities resulted in the seizure of about 55kg of controlled narcotics with a street value of RM4.9 million.

CNB has been monitoring a Malaysian-based gang that is suspected of trafficking narcotics by utilizing legal Singapore-based freight forwarding businesses to send shipments containing hidden drugs to other countries through Singapore since July 2021. CNB kept a close eye on the syndicate’s operations and relayed the information to the NCID. NCID began their inquiry based on information given by CNB.

Arrest

Between September 24 and September 28, 2021, the NCID conducted a series of operations in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Kuala Lumpur that resulted in the arrest of five Malaysians ranging in age from 21 to 71, as well as the seizure of RM4.9 million in drugs, as well as various drug processing equipment and 2.2 kilograms of caffeine suspected of being used in illicit drug production.
