Johor is looking to reopen their borders with Singapore either by May or June this year, and as such, about 100,000 Malaysians will soon receive their COvid-19 vaccinations.
About 400,000 Malaysians are currently working in Singapore, according to Johor’s Chief Minister Hasni Mohammad, therefore vaccinations for the Malaysians will need to be done in stages – meaning 100,000 Malaysians will receive their vaccinations first in the initial stage.
Hasni said that Malaysia is also using the same Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as Singapore and shouldn’t be difficult for both countries to recognise the innoculation process via a certificate that will be available on the MySejahtera app (presumed to be the Malaysian equivalent of Singapore’s Singpass app, but unverified).
The Johor-Malaysia border has been closed since 18 March last year and Johor’s economy has taken a significant and sever hit since then, with the Malaysian state desperate to reopen borders with us.
