Singaporean Actor, Ix Shen, and his wife have finally decided to leave Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital as tensions continue to rise due to Russian forces continuing their attacks.
Shen and his wife, Natalia, have been in Kyiv since four months ago.
In a video which Shen posted on his Instagram handle today (8 Mar), he said:
“Based on our latest information, we have decided that it’s not in our best interests to live extensively underground during the next phase of fighting, so we’ll be evacuating from Kyiv, in the west direction, and we’re planning and moving as we go along. We’ll be safe and okay.”
Previously mentioned that they had no plans to leave
Shen had previously mentioned that he had no plans to evacuate from Ukraine due to issues such as the cold weather and getting stuck on the way without any food or fuel.
On top of that, Shen wanted to fulfil his moral obligations of sharing his experience and educating the world on the happenings in Kyiv.
Singaporeans have been evacuated with a few exceptions
On 28 Feb, Foreign Minister of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan had said that there are still nine Singaporeans in Ukraine and on 3 March, he said that three Singaporeans had been evacuated from the Ukraine and there are still six who remain.
Shen was one of the six who remained.
