ALL OF M’SIA’S INTERNATIONAL CHECKPOINTS & BORDERS TO OPEN SOON

Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Nancy Shukri, said on 7 March that Malaysia will be opening all of its international checkpoints and borders soon.

She added that this included their land checkpoints with Singapore, with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob due to be making official announcements soon.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri said that “the Tourism and Culture Ministry is well prepared and always ready to welcome back foreign tourists into Malaysia.”

He added that this would let people who have been separated for a while to be reunited during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The Malaysian government is also in the midst of introducing a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) with Brunei via land transport, and Thailand.

They are also planning a VTL with Indonesia as well, and this will be on top of the current VTLs with Singapore.

Shukri added that the land route between Singapore and Malaysia on the Johor Causeway and the Second Link at Gelang Patah will be opened at the same time as Malaysia’s border.

This is aimed at reviving their tourism industry by facilitating travel by Singaporeans into Malaysia, after their tourism sector was hit hard by the pandemic.
