He was also fined $1,000 for performing an act of negligence, endangering the safety of others.

He is represented by lawyers Pratap Kishan and Nirmal Singh, and the court heard that Murphy is intending to appeal against his conviction and prison sentence.

What happened?

Murphy was inside a taxi on his way home after drinking at the Singapore Recreation Club on 2 March 2018, when the taxi stopped at a traffic light at the exit of CTE heading towards Outram Road.

He then opened the rear passenger door on the left, and another vehicle that was passing by had to swerve out of the way.

The taxi driver, Elgin Lee, then used vulgarities to tell the man to close the door, which Murphy complied with, but he later attacked the taxi driver while he was driving.

Murphy had hit the driver’s left upper arm twice; then when the driver was turning into Outram Road, he noticed a “shadow” coming towards him on his left mirror, and he then raised his arm to protect himself.

He ended up being hit in the left lower arm, resulting in his left shoulder being dislocated.

The driver then stopped the taxi and got out of his taxi, telling Murphy to exit his taxi, and that he would not be collecting the fare.

The driver then drove away, but stopped at Eng Hoon Street nearby because he was in pain.

His friends then took him to Mount Alvernia Hospital, where he was found with a left shoulder traumatic dislocation and was granted hospitalization leave from 3 to 20 March 2018.
