An American expat in Singapore, Travis, posted a video on his YouTube channel in a bid to track down the kind hearted man who offered him and his family an umbrella during a heavy rain.
He shared that he was walking home with his family after a dinner at Duxton Hill on 4 September, when it suddenly started pouring.
The family was near Tanjong Pagar and walking towards Tiong Bahru at the time, along Greenway, and they took cover under and underpass hoping the rain would eventually stop soon.
However after an hour, the rain didn’t seem to be subsiding and they family then decided to walk in the rain.
A group of cyclists then passed them by in the rain and one of them offered him his umbrella, which Travis declined because they were already wet.
The cyclist then insisted because the family had a child who was drenched.
The family accepted the umbrella and the cyclist then continued on his way.
Travis expressed in his video that although the cyclist didn’t expect anything in return, he wanted to track down the man as his act of kindness “shouldn’t go unrecognised”.
He appealed to Singapore to help him find the man:
“I need your help Singapore, I want to find this person who gave me the umbrella. I want to return this umbrella, I want to thank him in person, and I want to buy him a coffee.”
He then described the good samaritan’s profile:
