Another local covid-19 case has tested preliminarily positive for the Omicron variant on 16 December, with the case being a 42-year-old man working at Changi Airport Terminal 3 as a loading assistant.
MOH said that the man had no contact with flight passengers and that he was fully vaccinated and had mild symptoms.
He is currently at an NCID isolation ward and recovering.
The man was identified as a close contact of an Omicron case and his sample tested preliminarily positive for the Omicron variant on 16 December.
Whole-genome sequencing is being conducted by the National Public Health Laboratory to confirm the variant.
MOH is also carrying out contact tracing to ringfence the case.
So far, there have been 24 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in Singapore, with 3 of them being local cases and the rest imported.
