A suspension bridge in the town of Morbi in Gujarat, India, collapsed on 30 October during a religious festival and plunged into a river below, resulting in the deaths of at least 141 people, according to Channel NewsAsia.
The death toll is still likely to climb even further as search operations are underwear for the other missing people.
More than 500 people were congregating on the suspension bridge, which is over 150 years old and sits suspended over the Macchu River.
The cables that were supporting the bridge had reportedly snapped, resulting in the bridge crashing into the river below.

CNA reported that the bridge had only recently undergone renovation about one week ago, and it was repaired for 7 months before reopening on 29 October.
However, the bridge did not have a safety certificate.
The death toll currently stands at 141 people, with another 171 people being rescued, while there are still people missing.
