A hawker stall at Bedok is selling Bak Kut Teh with rice at a very affordable price of $2.50, with their cheap pricing being commended by netizens.
They had previously made the news for selling their Cai Png dishes at $2 for 3 vegetable dishes, and are now back in the headlines for more affording food.
A netizen posted about the hawker, Xian Jin Mixed Vegetable Rice on 27 March on the Hawkers United – Dabao 2020 Facebook group about the stall’s offerings, which he described as being “cheap and very tasty.”
The netizen said that he had bought the Bak Kut Teh for $2 and rice for $0.50, costing a total of $2.50, which is considered very affordable in the current financial climate.
He then shared photos of the dish that included a generous portion of pork inside the bowl of Bak Kut Teh, as well as the rice which was quite a decent serving as well.
Netizens’ comments
- Need to appreciate , not all hawkers can afford to sell at this priceÂ
- Wow the price so good sia. Yesterday went to senja hawker centre eat a 猪脚é¥ã€‚5.90 and the portion so small yet need to order 2 bowl in order to be fulling. This BKT really so affordable.
- Hats off to them for maintaining their $2 price for the past decade or more. Their economy rice used to be $2 for any three items. Some people chose 3 long fried fish and they said same price as well! I believe their economy price set meal should have risen due to the extremely pricey ingredients.
Their bak kut teh is just pork soup. Certainly can fill the tummy but don’t expect the premium 龙骨 rib section.
