The decomposing body of a 63-year-old man was discovered by the police at a Toa Payoh flat after neighbours complained of a foul smell coming from it, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The deceased was a 63-year-old man named Zhang Yue Tong, and his neighbour had complained about an unbearable stench that was coming out of his home next to hers.
The police then arrived and his dead body was then discovered in a state of decomposition.
The incident happened at Block 100, Lorong 1 Toa Payoh.
Estranged from family
According to Shin Min Daily News, the deceased used to live together with his mother and also had 2 younger brothers.
His mother passed away and before her death, she removed herself as the co-owner of the house, leading to a dispute between the deceased and his two brothers because it made him the sole owner of the house.
The brothers then had a falling out and became estranged, with the younger brother only finding out about his death from the deceased’s neighbours.
Pronounced dead at the scene
The police said that they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at Block 100 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh on 26 December at about 2.57pm.
They found a 63-year-old man lying down motionless at the scene and he was subsequently pronounced dead by the paramedics.
The police added that they do not suspect any foul play based on preliminary investigations; and at the time of writing, investigations are underway.
