BOSS APPROVED STAFF’S LEAVE APPLICATION THEN DEMANDS THAT HE REPORT TO WORK

Requested time off a month ago, it was approved. GM didn’t pay attention when making the schedule and claims I have no choice and need to come in. Do I have too?

How is that fair? I requested 3 days off a month ago. I got the first two off then I was scheduled on the 3rd day.

I told them hey you accidentally scheduled me and the GM told me “find cover or come in, not my problem.” Do I seriously have to go in?

I already requested that day off because yesterday was my birthday, and I knew I was gonna get drunk. You only turn twenty one once!! I’m reaaallyy hungover today.

GM said I HAVE to come in. Why? It’s not my fault they made the schedule wrong. My time off was approved!! I have evidence of it being approved!

Can they legally fire me if I don’t come in today?

  1. Your mistake was calling the schedule to his attention. I know you only turn 21 once, but there will be many times in life that you want time off. So next time, just keep your mouth shut, stay away from work and don’t answer your phone and tell them “I didn’t see that — I didn’t even look at the schedule because my three days off was confirmed a month in advance.”
  2. Tell him it was his job to find coverage and he messed that up. You’re not the one who made the mistake. And if he tries to get you in trouble (like a write up) don’t sign it. If you don’t sign it HR has to get involved.
  3. Don’t come in. It’s his fault for not checking who had scheduled time off. Make him solve the problem he caused. If he punishes you in any way, contact a lawyer.
  4. if you have the proof, especially in writing, he can’t do shit. if he fires you, you’re well within your right to sue him for wrongful termination.
