Mohd Sariyan was found guilty of violating the Enlistment Act, according to the Ministry of Defence (Mindef).
He pled guilty to charges of being outside of Singapore for six years, one month, and eight days without valid departure permission.
Since the High Court sentencing framework for NS defaulters was established in 2017, Mohammad would have been the 18th defaulter to receive a jail term.
Straits Times reports that man has moved to Malaysia since he was 13-years-old
