BURGLARY AT BOON LAY, S$300,000 STOLEN, 57 Y.O BREAKS OPEN SAFE

According to the Police media release, a 57-year-old man was arrested for burglary and stealing almost S$300,000 in cash and he will be charged later today.

The police issued a statement said that that they were alerted to a case of burglary at about 9:15 AM that occurred at Buroh Street, about USD$205,000 and S$6,000 cash was stolen.

Jurong police station police officers identified the suspect after investigation and arrested him within 4 hours. The police recovered USD$157,630 and S$6,000 in cash, as well as a damaged safe door as evidence.

From the photo taken by the Police, it appears that the safe was forcefully broken open or melted.

The man will be charged with the crime of housebreaking today.

If he is found guilty, he will be sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined.
