The incident happened at around 10:35pm on May 26 at 6 Raffles Boulevard, where a grey vehicle was seen lying on its side near the hotel lobby entrance. Photos and videos circulating online showed emergency responders surrounding the overturned car while stunned bystanders looked on.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Singapore Police Force (SPF), the accident involved a car and a taxi. A 29-year-old woman and her nine-month-old daughter were both conveyed to hospital following the collision.
The woman was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while the infant was sent to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital for medical attention.
Photos from the scene showed that the car’s airbags had been deployed, indicating the force of the impact. Several emergency vehicles and personnel were also spotted outside the hotel as investigations got underway.
The accident reportedly occurred at the entrance driveway of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, a busy area frequently used by hotel guests, taxis, and private-hire vehicles.
Police said a 60-year-old male driver is currently assisting with investigations. No arrests have been announced so far, and the exact cause of the crash remains unclear.
The incident quickly drew attention online, with many netizens expressing shock over how the vehicle ended up on its side within the hotel lobby area. Others also voiced concern for the young child involved in the accident.
Road accidents involving vehicle overturns are relatively uncommon in Singapore due to lower driving speeds in urban areas, which made the incident particularly striking for witnesses and online viewers alike.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the case.
