CAR HITS MOTORBIKE AT WOODLANDS AND TRIED TO ESCAPE

An accident occured along Woodlands Ave 1 on 18 April 2022 at around 2332 HRS.

Penalties

Motorists who are involved in accidents must stop and render necessary assistance such as calling for an ambulance to attend to any injured party.  

Failure to do so is an offence under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Act, Chapter 276. If convicted, the offender is liable to a fine not exceeding $3,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months and in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years.

For the offence of Dangerous Driving under Section 64(1) of the Road Traffic Act, Chapter 276, motorists will upon conviction have their driving licence disqualified by the court and shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both. In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, the motorist will face a fine not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years, or both.
