The netizen who posted the video said:
I have read and watched newsreels of vehicles that caught fire in the past but have never seen a live burning car event personally until this afternoon!
Was at the Old Airport Road HC having late lunch n kopi with my buddy n suddenly saw a young man frantically looking for a fire extinguisher!
A few others helped him to break the glass seal n accessed the fire extinguisher.
He took 3 in total coming in n out of the hawkers centre.
I initially didn’t want to watch n video the unfolding drama but did later since a few people r already helping.
The young man that helped is actually a good samaritan n, not the car owner! Most valour of him to step up n help.
With the help of two other persons, they actually pulled the fire hose fr the HC Fire Hydrant cabinet n tried to dose the fire. Unfortunately, the hose is not long enough for the water to reach the car in the open carpark slot.
In the meantime, 2 fire engines arrived n put the fire out quickly.
The burned car owner came to the scene accompanied by a few SPF officers later. Must n wondering what hit him.
Everyone is asking how can a stationary car catch fire just like that.
Apparently, a search on Google revealed an average of 208 car fire cases in Singapore! Some after an accident n some when stationary or during a drive!
Well, glad no one was injured in this weird incident. A bit of drama on a quiet TGIF?
Wonder if our High Way Code now teaches us what to do when one’s car caught fire?
